Fit across generations
Fifth-gen (2010–2024) and the new sixth-gen 4Runners both run conventional front buckets with separate headrests on every trim — SR5, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, Limited. That's ideal for a universal stretch cover: one minute per seat, no hardware. The 40/20/40 rear bench folds for cargo, so most owners cover the fronts and throw a jacquard throw rug over the cargo area instead — it protects, looks right, and comes out for the campsite.
Trail checklist
- Dust — fine trail dust works into factory fabric permanently; on a washable cover it comes out in a cold cycle (care guide).
- Water — creek crossings and wet gear demand a genuinely waterproof coating, not resistance (difference here).
- Sun — 4Runners live outside; covers absorb the UV fade the seats otherwise would.
- Airbags — stretch fit leaves the side-airbag seam free (details).
